Nanny's Sponge Cake

(I think Nanny used this cake for Strawberry-Short cake)

(There's a regular recipe, and a "9 egg" recipe - the "9 egg" amounts are in parenthesis.)

Ingredients

  • 6 (9) eggs - Separated
  • 1 1/2 (2) cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 (2 1/4) cups flour
  • 4 (6) tblspns. vegetable oil
  • 2 (3) tsps. baking powder
  • 1/2 (1/2) tsps. salt

No mixing directions - just "bake about 1/2 hour at 350" (degrees Fahrenheit)
