Brown Gravy Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. or more beef cubes - nice and lean
  • 1/2 onion
  • Tomato paste
  • 1 lemon skin
  • Cloves
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Flour and water to thicken
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Serve with parmesan grated cheese

Procedure

Don't tenderize meat with anything.

  1. Brown beef cubes in pan with a little crisco vegetable oil, salt & pepper, and onion sliced chopped.
  2. Add 1 good table spoon of tomato paste
  3. Saute till nice dark color appears
  4. Add 4 1/2 cups of water and keep stirring until it all blends in
  5. Add 1 small slice of lemon skin and 2 cloves, 1 half stick of cinnamon, 1 bay leaf, salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Let simmer till the meat is tender
  7. To thicken gravy add flour and water but don't make it too thick
  8. Pour over spaghetti and cheese and it's so good.
